Is Þingvellir National Park free?

Is a private Golden Circle tour worth it?
It is for a group of three or more, or if you want your own start time and extra stops. Private fares are quoted per person and fall as the group grows; one car is priced per group of up to four instead.
Can I see the northern lights on a Golden Circle tour?
Only on the combined day that adds an evening aurora hunt, and its reviews come from September to April. No tour promises a sighting: the Met Office says the lights need dark and partly clear skies, and some nights stay cloudy.

What is Silfra, and can I snorkel it?
Silfra is a water-filled fissure at Þingvellir, 2 to 4 °C all year. You snorkel it only with a guide, in a drysuit and never alone, and the Golden Circle combination day takes swimmers from age 12.
Can you touch both continents at Silfra?
No. The park says Silfra lies inside the rift zone rather than on a single boundary, and the plates are about 5 km apart. You can say you touch both continents only as a figure of speech.
Why is Þingvellir famous?
The Alþingi, Iceland's assembly, was founded there around 930 and met in the open until 1798. The park sits in a rift valley on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004.
Is the Golden Circle a UNESCO site?
